So far we have had a lot of fun working collaboratively with the poets and musicians of The Literatti for the reTHiNK Possible Worlds project. We have been with them all through-out their creative processes, seeing and feeling how each piece changes and progresses from its starting point.
I think this is a really great way to work. It makes it easier for us as dancers to have more of an understanding of their works and so we are able to create movement that hopefully compliments and expresses the ideas and feelings behind each poem. It’s also allowed the poets to get a sense of where we are going with the dance interpretation and it’s been great to see some of the poets start picking up on our movements in their own performances. It’s not often that we get to work in such a two-way relationship with our source of inspiration. …

What we're doing
The Auckland RETHiNK Grant gives away financial grants from a pool of $15k each year to innovative and creative ideas, promotions, projects or events that challenge stereotypes, myths, discriminatory practices or stigmatising attitudes surrounding what is commonly referred to as mental "illness".
